About Us

Vegetable Garden Direct is a family business run by Colin, Gavin and Karen.

We started Vegetable Garden Direct in 2008 knowing the major benefits that can be achieved from growing your own vegetables and wanting to help others get started.

We found that whilst many people were already reaping the rewards of this lifestyle, many more that wanted to join the "grow your own" revolution were finding it hard to take that first step. There are many reasons for this. Lack of knowledge/experience in growing your own, not enough time or energy, uncertain of what to grow and when, lack of space etc.

Whilst all are valid reasons for holding back, we are here to help you get going and to show you that all of these 'problems' can be overcome.

Lack of knowledge/experience:
Email us direct with any question you may have and we will get back to you with an honest and helpful answer.
Experience is something you will acquire as you go along. The journey is the fun part.

Not enough time/energy
We start off the growing process for you and deliver a healthy young plant/s direct to your door. All you have to do is pop it in the ground and it will thrive, saving you a few weeks work.

Uncertain of what to grow & when
Our delivery calendar will help you here. Simply choose the  month you want your plants to be delivered in and we will show you the suitable plants.
If you still can't decide, ask us and we will tell you some of our favourites.

Lack of space
A big concern for a lot of people but it doesn't have to be. We have a whole section of the website dedicated to the smaller area, helping you make an informed decision on suitable plants enabling you to grow your own like everybody else.

Meet the Team

Colin:

For the last 15 years I have been a professional gardener operating around the Cheltenham area. My main passion in life is the great outdoors and living a healthy lifestyle. I also enjoy visiting National Trust properties.

I can be found...in the greenhouse doing all of the many jobs necessary including the sowing/potting on & packaging. In the garden doing all of the jobs assigned to me by Karen or with my nose in a good gardening book.

My main interests in life are technology, photography, wildlife and sport. I have recently been introduced to the world of horticulture and have developed a keen interest in all things green.

I can be found...in the office working on the website and replying to emails, and at the greenhouse doing the sowing/packaging etc.

Karen:

Family is the most important thing to me and holding everything together is what I'm all about. I enjoy nothing more than getting my hands dirty in the veg patch, visiting National Trust properties and when I can't do those, a good book goes down very well.

I can be found...in the kitchen cooking up a storm with the various veg I've just dug up/picked.
