What to do in the Garden in February

  1. Check staking on newly planted fruit trees so as to avoid wind damage, and continue with planting new fruit trees and bushes.

  2. Buy your seed potatoes and begin chitting them in a cool, dry and frost-free area.

  3. Any recently dug-over soil may have already been broken down by the winter frost. Some of this soil can be raked to form new seedbeds. Scatter some fertiliser and leave for a week or two. This will then be availbale to your newly planted veg plants.

  4. Feed your brassicas with an organic fertiliser to promote healthy growth.

(top tip: - Cabbages can grow back some leafy foliage that be used for spring greens. Cut a cross in the stem after removing your cabbage to promote this growth).

  • Cauliflower
  • Kale
  • Leeks
