What to do in the Garden in February
- Check staking on newly planted fruit trees so as to avoid wind damage, and continue with planting new fruit trees and bushes.
- Buy your seed potatoes and begin chitting them in a cool, dry and frost-free area.
- Any recently dug-over soil may have already been broken down by the winter frost. Some of this soil can be raked to form new seedbeds. Scatter some fertiliser and leave for a week or two. This will then be availbale to your newly planted veg plants.
- Feed your brassicas with an organic fertiliser to promote healthy growth.
(top tip: - Cabbages can grow back some leafy foliage that be used for spring greens. Cut a cross in the stem after removing your cabbage to promote this growth).
